'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Kev laments 'gang of four`

Like most managers at some stage, KK has come out and lamented the changed structure of the Premier League, where the alleged Big Four cream off all the Champions League money and close shop. Kev`s mini-rant went:

"We haven`t quite got a club here. People have to understand that it`s not a level playing field any more. We`re only 6,000 below Arsenal in terms of average crowds, but in terms of turnover, we`re one third of what they`re doing. There is a big difference between a turnover of £80 million and £240 million.

The top four have their own private club [the Champions League] that keeps them away from everyone else; they`re almost being sponsored to be kept away from us because of that competition. Some of those clubs have really kicked on, to the detriment of the others. Looking at their spending and trying to bridge that gap tells you something about where we have to go.

We have to stabilise the club and then start looking forward and if we can do that, we`ll give the fans hope that it`s going to get better. We`ve got to give them hope that next season is going to be much better. We should be fifth or sixth in the Premier League if you look at crowds and finances - it`s us and Tottenham [Hotspur] - but it`s about much more than that in football."
